Advanced Biomedical Instrumentation Centre Limited (“ABIC”) is collaborative effort coordinated by the University of Hong Kong (HKU) undertaking R&D projects at the Hong Kong Science Park. The aim of the Centre is to develop new and disruptive biomedical instrumentation that will meet the growing needs in medicine and contribute sustainably to human health.

Job Title:

Product Development Engineer (H01/2023/091) ,

Applications are invited for appointment as Product Development Engineer (Ref.: H01/2023/091), on a fixed-term basis for the full-time appointment.

 

Job Responsibilities:

• Guide individual project owners to translate their ideas into a MVP; take lead on design and prototyping
• Recommend appropriate solutions to tackle with technical challenges
• Define technical specification of the products; and suggest product development roadmaps
• Work with the right partners such as CDMO for product accreditation (FDA/ NMPA/ FCC/ CE/ CCC etc)
• Identify and manage the supply chain to enable mass production
• Manage expectations with both internal and external stakeholders
Skills and Requirements:
• Possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering / Science or equivalent with at least 3 years of relevant experience
• Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese
• Good interpersonal and communication skills
• Good coordination, and problem solving skills
• Ability to work independently and in a team

The appointee may be required to perform other duties as assigned, and work outside normal office hours and on weekends.

Job Title:

Technical Officer (Ref.: H01/2024/061),

Applicants should possess a Higher Diploma or above in Computer Science or Information Technology related disciplines, and an MCSE, CCNA/CCNP certificate holder would be an advantage, preferably with some relevant work experience.

They should have a good command of written and spoken Chinese and English; good coordination, organizational and problem-solving skills; be highly motivated with a strong sense of responsibility and the ability to work independently and in a team. The appointee will report to the Research Director and the Technical Manager and be responsible for supporting daily operations of laboratories with IT support, with on-job training to be provided, duties including:

• Inventory management
• Support the procurement process
• Coordinate with the safety office on chemical handling and disposal protocols
• PC installation & maintenance
• Setup and configuration of end-user computer hardware, software and devices
• Good knowledge in Windows OS and M365
• Maintain Company web page
• Sound knowledge in PHP, HTML, CSS and javascript

Senior Technical Officer/Technical Officer (Ref.: H01/2023/101) 

Job Responsibilities:

The appointee will be responsible for supporting daily operations of laboratories (including cleanroom), with on-job training to be provided, duties including but not limited to:

I. manage laboratories and ensure its safety;

II. purchase and repair equipment;

III. provide equipment operation training and safety training to laboratory users;

IV. coordinate with the safety office on chemical handling and disposal protocols; and

V. perform any other duties as assigned.

Job Responsibilities:

Candidates should possess:

    Applicants should have a degree with at least two years of relevant work experience. Good interpersonal and communication skills, maturity, proficiency in written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua) as well as computing applications are essential. They should be attentive to details and well-organized, have a strong sense of confidentiality and responsibility, and are able to work independently and under pressure.

    The appointee will provide all-round secretarial and administrative support to the Managing Director (MD). He/she needs to arrange and coordinate travel, meetings and schedules of MD, prepare presentation materials, meeting agendas and documents, process MD’s expense claims and complete required documentation to ensure timely approval. He/she should maintain records and handle details of highly confidential matters properly. He/she will handle incoming & outgoing correspondence and liaise with internal and external parties to ensure smooth execution of tasks; and perform other duties as assigned. He/She may be required to work outside normal office hours and on weekends. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend a written test and an interview.
