ABIC Wins Gold Medal & Grand Prix at SVIIF 2025 for Next-Generation PCR Diagnostics
ABIC is pleased to announce its spin-off company, Multera, has been awarded Gold Medal and Grand Prix, the highest honor at 2025 Silicon Valley International Invention Festival (SVIIF).
Multera’s innovation, the next-generation PCR barcoding platform, redefines molecular diagnostics that transcends the limitations of conventional PCR in detecting DNA target loci. With ultra-high-throughput capabilities comparable to sequencing, the platform is ideal for cancer diagnostics, infectious disease detection, and genetic disorder screening.
Existing molecular diagnostic tools, such as qPCR or NGS, often struggle with speed, sensitivity, and multiplexing. Our platform integrates innovative molecular barcoding with droplet microfluidics to simultaneously detect millions of target loci across millions of droplets in a single test. Results are available in just two hours, enhancing the efficiency of clinical decision-making.
Designed as automated desktop instrument with dedicated reagent kit, the system empowers clinical laboratories to perform high-throughput molecular testing by simply purchasing the instrument and consumables. The invention supports diverse applications, including large-scale population health screenings and precision medicine.
This dual international recognition highlights ABIC’s mission to translate cutting-edge research into impactful healthcare solutions, reflecting the global competitiveness of HK’s I&T ecosystem, driving a promising future where advanced molecular diagnostics are accessible to every patient worldwide.
