ABIC Welcomes Young Scientists from the Hong Kong Laureate Forum for Laboratory Visit
The InnoHK Advanced Biomedical Instrumentation Centre (ABIC) was honored to welcome a group of young scientists from around the world at the 2nd Hong Kong Laureate Forum, held from 5 to 8 November 2025. On 7 November, the visiting young scientists joined a laboratory visit at ABIC, offering an opportunity for close engagement with Hong Kong’s cutting-edge biomedical research environment.
The Hong Kong Laureate Forum is a world-class academic exchange platform that brings together Shaw Laureates, distinguished scientists, and emerging scientific talents to share ideas, experience, and aspirations across disciplines. During the Forum, Shaw Laureates and leading researchers spent four days in Hong Kong interacting with nearly 200 outstanding young scientists from more than 30 countries and regions, through plenary sessions, discussions, workshops, poster presentations, and visits to major research institutions.
As part of this program, the visit to ABIC provided young scientists with first-hand exposure to frontier biomedical instrumentation research and its pathway toward real-world impact. The exchange fostered lively discussions on scientific discovery, translation, and innovation, reflecting the Forum’s mission to connect generations of scientists and cultivate cross-disciplinary and cross-cultural collaboration.
The Forum is fully sponsored by the Lee Shau Kee Foundation, whose long-standing commitment to education, talent development, and social well-being has supported generations of scholars in Hong Kong, China, and beyond. The program also celebrates the legacy of the Shaw Prize, a globally respected award recognizing outstanding contributions in Astronomy, Life Science and Medicine, and Mathematical Sciences, with many Shaw Laureates later becoming Nobel Prize, Fields Medal, Lasker, and Abel Prize recipients.
ABIC is proud to be part of this global exchange, contributing to a platform that inspires young scientists, strengthens international dialogue, and showcases Hong Kong’s growing role in the global research and innovation ecosystem. We look forward to continued engagement with the next generation of scientific leaders and to building lasting connections that advance science for societal benefits.
