ABIC Celebrates Record-Breaking Success at the 50th International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva

The Advanced Biomedical Instrumentation Centre (ABIC) achieved record-breaking success at the 50th International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva (IEIG), garnering six prestigious awards: one Gold Medal with Congratulations of the Jury, two Gold Medals, two Silver Medals, and one Bronze Medal. This marks a new milestone in ABIC’s pursuit of research excellence and highlights the Centre’s growing global impact in advancing translational biomedical innovations.

Among the entries, the project “Next-generation PCR: Revolutionary Microfluidics Approach for Efficient Multiplex In Vitro Diagnostics” developed by our team — Dr. Wenshan Zheng, Prof. David A. Weitz, Prof. Anderson Shum, Dr. Xing Zhao, Dr. Yulin Zhang, Ms. Sijie Chen, Dr. Peiye Li, Mr. Hon Yin Leung, Dr. Stella Chu, Mr. Yue Zhu — was honored with Gold Medal with Congratulations of the Jury. The next-generation PCR can realize highly multiple DNA target detection (up to 1,000,000) at a time. It can provide accurate, affordable, and fast diagnostics for many diseases, such as non-invasive prenatal testing, cancer, and infectious diseases.
